Quentin had a great time raking/playing in the leaves this afternoon.

Haunted Gingerbread House
The other day at the grocery store I saw a gingerbread house kit and thought "oh, that'll be fun to put together with Q!", so I bought it. Things didn't turn out quite like I expected. For starters, despite the gingerbread pieces being already cut out, the edges are not all straight and you need to trim them yourself. Then the icing is in powder form and you have to add water and mix to the right consistency (which had I thought this through, I probably would have realized would be the case). But, we eventually got the house assembled and Quentin helped with adding decorations. Turns out my mixing of the orange icing was not the best and it started running all over as I was trying to pipe it nicely in place. Oh, well. We had a good time making it and had some leftover candy pieces to munch on after, too! :)

Halloween
So apparently trick or treat night was tonight here. Found out about 15 min. before it was to start. Fortunately, we had purchased some candy a couple of days ago and had got a costume for Q this past weekend. Q and I went down into the "neighborhood" (i.e. the one street that makes up our neighborhood) to trick or treat. He had a great time and I think would have liked to go to more houses, but I didn't see any lights on at any of the houses on our actual street, so we opted to go home instead. I think next year we'll have to take him trick or treating with his cousins, where there will be an abundance of houses to go to.

It's a Boy!
We had our second ultrasound today and baby 2 is going to be a boy! Now we need to find a good name for him, which is going to be tough since we had a girl name all picked out but nothing has come to mind for a boy.
I also need to figure out what I want to do for his room so we can get started on it. So excited!!!

Ketchikan Alaska
Our next stop was in Ketchikan where we got up super early (again) in order to go on our shore excursion to the Misty Fjords. We ended up being super lucky in that they had had lots of rain the previous two days. Because of the rain we saw LOTS of temporary waterfalls. We also lucked out and saw quite a bit of wildlife (the guides remarked that they don't usually see as much as we did). We saw (or some people did anyway) a bear, lots of bald eagles, two orca whales, and some seals. It was fantastic!!

Glacier Bay
Next we headed to Glacier Bay and arrived early in the morning. We picked up some rangers from the Park Service who pointed out wildlife we could see and told us some information about the glaciers themselves. We actually were able to see some bears feasting on a whale carcass but our camera wasn't good enough to get a good picture of them. The rangers talked about several of the glaciers in the bay and we were able to see Marjorie Glacier calve several times.

Skagway Alaska
Our next port of call was in Skagway. Instead of doing a shore excursion in Skagway we rented a car with our friends who came on the cruise with us and drove into Canada and up into the Yukon to a place called Emerald Lake. Because we drove we were able to stop at the many scenic viewpoints and get great pictures.

Juneau Alaska
Our first port of call on our cruise was Juneau Alaska. Aaron wanted to do a glacier hike so while he did that I went on a different excursion to a rainforest/gardens and then out to the Mendenhall Glacier visitors center (I have been getting pain in my right hip that prevented me from doing a hike). These are pictures Aaron took out at Mendenhall Glacier while on his hike.

Q Has a Black Eye
Yesterday Q was playing around on his bed, hiding under the covers when he whacked his eye on the bed frame. Not sure how exactly he did it, but lots of crying ensued naturally. We tried to put some ice (in the form of frozen corn) on his eye, but he was having none of it. Popcicles on the other hand work quite well at getting him calmed down. He's been doing great today and it doesn't seem to bother him much so we'll just have to wait until the swelling and pretty colors go away. :)
