Aaron and I have been thinking of getting a sandbox for Quentin and we finally went ahead and bought one. I thought this "crabby sandbox" was the cutest! It arrived last week, but with all the rain we've gotten we didn't get it set up until today. Quentin LOVES it! He played quietly in it for at least an hour and then didn't want to get out to come eat dinner. I think we picked a winner!

Dentist
After Quentin knocked out his tooth I called First Nurse to make sure we were doing everything we could to help him. The lady I talked to said since the whole tooth came out that all we could really do was use cold towels and apply pressure to get the bleeding to stop. She also suggested a Popsicle once the bleeding had slowed down (which Q didn't want until later). Then she said we should take him to the dentist within the next couple of days to have everything looked over. So I got an appointment for Tuesday afternoon.
We've never taken Quentin to the dentist before and I was worried how he would do. The appointment was during Q's nap time and I figured that would just make everything worse. I was dreading it. Fortunately for me he decided to go down for a nap about an hour earlier than he usually does so he did get an hour long nap before I had to wake him up. As I was getting him buckled into his car seat I told him where we were going and that the dentist would be looking in his mouth at his teeth. He started to get upset and said no, he didn't want to get hurt. I reassured him that it wouldn't hurt, all the dentist would do was look at his teeth.
Once we arrived I had to fill out paperwork and Quentin played with some toys they had in the waiting room. Then I had to carry Q back to our room and sat him on my lap for his exam. He did surprisingly well. There was a little bit of fussing while the dentist and I talked and then outright crying and screaming while the dentist looked in his mouth. The dentist actually said that made it easier for him to see in there! Everything looked fine, but he told us that because Quentin lost the tooth sooner than what he should have that the adult tooth would take longer to come in. We're looking at him not having a tooth there until he is 7 or 8. Only 5-6 years to go! We are also taking Quentin back in in a month to have a regular checkup and cleaning. Hope that one goes well!

Quentin Loses His First Tooth
This past Sunday we went up to Ames to see my family for Mother's Day. We all went out to dinner and then my sister and her boys came back to my parent's house so the little ones could play for a bit. Quentin ended up running on the kitchen floor with a metal toy car in his hand and slipped and fell. Not one of us actually saw him fall, but we think he must have hit the tooth with the car when he fell. Thankfully his entire tooth (root included) came out otherwise we would have had to go to the ER. As it was it took an hour to get the bleeding to stop and Quentin to calm down. We'll have a toothless boy for quite some time now!
